Ok, so I was attempting horribly to keep this under wraps in case it didn't go through, but I interviewed for a new job. Well, old and new job. You see, as some of you may know I take care of the Paperchase department at the Borders I work at, on top of a bunch of other things as well, ie whenever anyone needs something somewhere else that's what I do.
So they're eliminating my PC position. I interviewed for the new position replacing it, and she said she would call me back the following week. But she didn't, and I was severely disappointed, especially since she didn't call me back period. So disappointed but I figured oh well. Just kinda sucks 'cause it was my favorite thing to do at the store 'sides cafe.
She just called me back, had a nasty nasal infection all last week - I GOT THE JOB! So no more selling, no more customer service. JUST working on the Gifts and Stationary stuff, and at not 1 store, but 3 stores - mileage paid, full time, over a $3/hr raise, NORMAL HOURS, NO WEEKENDS! And on top of it all, it's a CORPORATE position, so I wouldn't be taking hours from the stores for it! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!
In other news, didn't go camping this weekend. It mudded. And potted. And we said no. Gotta unpack stuff later tonight, but I was very proud of us 'cause we got the foam we were planning on using for bedding dried out before it got icky. It doesn't sound like much, but it was.
Since we didn't go camping, dad came into town for Jeff's bday so we hung out w/dad & Janet all day, and had dinner w/all 4 parents, which is extremely unusual but good :3 Wanted to go to the BBQ for the runaway pirates, but that's okay....
On an alternate note, I have the budding idea to look into doing BJD mods. I have most of the components necessary to do so, and I was wondering if it would be possible to mod for people for parts. I don't have the money yet for a BJD, but things may be changing soon, and it's something I could see myself getting into, but responsibly. I heard people saying that there's a store in the area that works with them (does the doll store by our house do it?). Perhaps even working into making steampunk stuff and clothes for them... I actually have a stuffed bear that I *really* wanna steam up, but I gotta figure out how to get a tiny monacle, top hat or bowler, and cane for him...
I'm, umm, gonna go run around screaming nao, or something, or stuff. Or... ummm... yeah...

Holy crap congrats!
I mean, that's utterly awesome. I've had the, "no callback at ALL" experience many times just this last semester, so I know how that feels - but to think that you got it and all the frump was for naught! Hee.
Also the position sounds ueber spiffy.
AlsoAlso, totally for the steambear. I shudder to mention it, but the buildabear might have the stuff youre looking for. And there used to be a hobbylobby out in stcharles on hway 370...

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
That really rocks. You get paid to unleash your pure creative genius upon three stores!

Kathy Lee (the store down the street from you) doesn't deal in BJD the last time I checked, but I bet that if they got enough requests they would.
They will likely have the accessories you want, though. Remember that people have been "modding" their dolls since dolls were invented. They carry a variety of accessories and things for a variety of doll sizes. Hats, shoes, socks, parasols, etc. I bet they'd have the pieces you want.
Congratulations!!!

Now that your shedule is nice and regular we should make a serious attempt at hanging out.
